About Us

Back again for the very 4th time.
Welcome to the fresh restart on the NCE30 Website.

We are a niche North Carolina social club united by our passion for BMW’s now-iconic second attempt at a 3-series, the E30. Since 2008, we’ve been rallying to strengthen the community by organizing events and encouraging genuine connections between our members. Our commitment is to each other and the preservation of our beloved Ultimate Driving Machines.

The Grassroots:

Unlike many clubs that capitalized on the novelty or the prestige of their automobiles, NCE30 formed during the absolute rock bottom of our models’ market value. Nobody wanted one, and everyone had one to get rid of. Racers in the newly formed Spec-E30 class were buying them by the bakers’ dozens. The rest were claimed by the wunderkinds, who had no idea that their part-time, minimum wage paycheck could afford a BMW that came with a parts car like free salad and breadsticks at Olive Garden. With a low cost of entry and no budget to speak of, E30s became a preferred choice of weekend warriors, who traded second-hand parts and shared unverified (often inaccurate) internet insights but showed up for each other knowing that our cars had to run by Monday. It’s these humble origins that have cultivated a family of DIYers, tuners, restorers, racers, casual drivers, and all types of enthusiasts among us.

So, who are we?

We are those kids, all grown up… kinda.

Since the times of loitering in public parks, much has changed. For one, E30s command a little more respect and affordable, clean examples are harder to come by. The founding members have earned diplomas, started families, found businesses, but also welcomed a whole new generation of E30 enthusiasts. Though we still sometimes loiter, we have also made significant improvements in venues: racetracks, campgrounds, etc. But what remained the same, is our undying commitment to the chassis that brings us together.

North Carolina

E30 enthusiasm is as North Carolinian as Cheerwine and Krispy Kreme. NC has an incredibly rich E30 history and we are ever-so thankful to be able to follow in the footsteps of tuners and racers that came before us. Stay tuned for North Carolina-specific E30 content.

Our Goals:

Our expectations are ambitious. To continue NCE30 growth we must stay true to our founding ideals: support each others’ E30 endeavors, focus on comradery, the proliferation of sound technical information, and organize the best events to celebrate the E30 chassis together.
